Description Biography

The Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) are back with a vengeance. Having received the green light in September from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to conduct complex medical reviews, they are going after inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) with a renewed assault on Medicare claims. But that's not all that's impacting IRF providers: A myriad of new changes to reimbursement and a spider's web of regulatory and compliance issues facing other post-acute settings mean only one thing: IRFs and related service providers must be nimble to survive.

In what will be the most important RAC webcast this year, Angela Phillips will give you and your team a survivor's guide to deal with crucial issues such as Targeted Probe and Education (TPE) audits by the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and how to expedite turnaround times for ADRs. You will learn about the new ruling allowing IPPS-excluded hospitals to have psychiatric and rehabilitation units and how this new rule could create opportunities for new IRF units along with increased competition for existing units. You will learn about the pending change in the CMG classification that uses the GG functional scoring from the Quality Reporting system, especially its impact on payment. And given Ms. Phillips distinguished career as one of the nation's most respected IRF authorities, you will gain remarkable insight into the future of IRFs, including the proposed changes for common assessment data used to establish site-neutral payment and provide IRFs with the current Medicare perspective in this area.

Why This is Relevant:

IRFs are faced with significant and far reaching changes which will impact both reimbursement and the level of competition for patients as the regulatory changes take place. And, while preparing for change, IRFs much continue to be vigilant about documentation requirements under the existing requirements for Medicare.
